Workflow and compatibility
What NoviPath needs as input, and how it works with STL files, Insight, and comparisons between designs.
What inputs does NoviPath need?
NoviPath automatically transfers the model and toolpaths from GrabCAD Print and meshes the part automatically (advanced options are available if you want to control over either). The only inputs required from the user are mechanical loads and restraints.
Can I use STL files directly for FEA, or do they introduce accuracy issues?
NoviPath works with STL directly, loads and restraints are applied on the STL.
Can I use Insight with NoviPath?
Yes, by exporting the “Simulation toolpaths” from Insight and importing them into NoviPath together with the STL used Insight.
Can NoviPath compare load cases, orientations, materials, and different toolpaths before printing?
Yes, though manually at this stage: you run NoviPath for each load case, material, orientation, or toolpath and compare the saved reports.
Can NoviPath recommend a better toolpath, or only analyze the one I have?
At the current stage it simulates the part with its existing toolpaths. Infill and toolpath optimization are part of our next development stage.
